My name is Sara Shookman and I’m a career journalist now working as a Content Marketing Consultant. Telling stories is my best skill, and I’m finding plenty of them at Sixth City. Very soon we’re launching the Sixth City Marketing Society to share and celebrate Clevelander’s doing cool things.
You might recognize me from WKYC 3News, where I spent ten years on the air here in Cleveland, covering local, national and even international news. That work won eight Emmys, a Murrow and awards from AP, the Cleveland Press Club and community recognition. My favorite assignment? Definitely my two Olympic tours. There’s nothing like the thrill of a gold medal! On the daily, I tried to seek out stories that raised the voices of women and advocated for the underdog.
I’m an Akron native and a graduate of Ohio University’s E.W. Scripps School of Journalism, and a busy mom of two (three if you count our fur baby, Basil). It often feels like laundry, night wake-ups and board books are my current hobbies, but my husband and I also love to travel, try out new restaurants, and get outside in any Cleveland weather.
